Wireless internet access is now common in the home and workplace. However, beyond these areas travellers encounter a patchwork of inconsistent or non-existent Wi-Fi services, especially in vast regional areas like the Pilbara.
Free public Wi-Fi is a key economic driver that further encourages business and enable visitors to enjoy public spaces for longer. Importantly, it will allow visitors to post pictures of the Pilbara to the world as great asset to tourism promotion.
As at 2017, there are a total of 22 Wi-Fi hotspots across the Pilbara region, with 9 of them located at the public centres and the rest at the roadside rest stops.
