Contribution to PTPDP
During FY16, the Pilbara Regional Council investigated requirements to boost the region’s digital and mobile engagement. The resulting strategy considered both web and mobile solutions, mapping and image requirements, booking solutions and many other complementary regional marketing initiatives. The Strategy assessed current marketing initiatives from organisations including Visitor Information Centres, Local Governments and Australia’s North West Tourism, recommending collaborative solutions to raise awareness of and interest in tourism experiences across the Pilbara.
For FY17, the Pilbara Regional Council will focus on supporting a regional, single point of information with high image content, interactive mapping capabilities and experience based trip planners; implementing a regional attraction and accommodation online booking portal; developing a mobile app to mirror the booking portal with offline access capabilities; and actively promoting the free public Wi-Fi (Welcome Wi-Fi) and other services as part of the region’s online tourism marketing activities.
